I am male, 68 and have body-built since 1959, maintaining most of my physique and dramatically increasing strength all of those years, without the use of steroids but only with health supplements including protein. About a year ago, I tried Estrodex. I had my testosterone, estrogen, progesterone, DHEA-S blood levels taken prior, during, and after a couple of months on Estrodex.

Prior to Estrodex, my testosterone levels were in the age-normal range but estrogen was high and DHEA-S low. I wanted to raise testosterone to the level of a healthy 40-year-old (anti-aging approach) and drop my estrogen and raise my DHEA-S. I understood progesterone might rise in an attempt to balance testosterone and estrogen.

During Estrodex, my testosterone rose, estrogen dropped (but was still high), DHEA-S raised and progesterone may have raised. I was impressed, because trying to do this with I3C and DIM and chrysin 10% had little or no effect.

After Estrodex, testosterone dropped a little and estrogen rose again and DHEA-S dropped. Progesterone stayed at a similar level (the scales in Canada for men make measuring progesterone levels difficult).

I tried another product containing DIM and I3C (Estrodex contains only I3C) and took samples. I also switched DHEA brands. My testosterone level was higher than with no hormone modulator but not as high as with Estrodex. My estrogen was lower than it was with no modulator but not as low as with Estrodex. My progesterone had risen. My DHEA-S was also significantly higher, which I attribute to using a different brand of DHEA at the same strength (50 mg./day).

In my opinion, Estrodex worked but not as well as I would have liked. A stronger aromatase inhibitor or estrogen-limiter is needed.

Also, one of the problems is knowing the ratio of testosterone to estrogen that is optimal in an individual male's body for either health or anti-aging purposes. I have read everything from 50 to 1 to 4 to 1 (testosterone to estrogen). This range is preposterously wide. Does anyone have better information?
